Apple iPhone 6s Camera Might Use Sony’s 12MP RGBW Sensor

Day by day we are getting more updates about Apple‘s next iPhone version – which might probably called as iPhone 6s (and 6s Plus). Some of my friends even stopped their idea of getting iPhone 6 when they heard about the rumoured specifications of iPhone 6s. It is one of the best expected smartphones of 2015. We already wrote a post about our expected features of the next iPhone and we highlighted something about their new upgraded camera as well. Seems like we getting +1 on that part.

Chinese news site Feng.com claims that the next iPhone’s camera sensor will switch from the traditional RGB sensor design to RGBW. This will also improve the low-light performance of the camera. It is reported that this specific RGBW sensor will be made by Sony.

If this is true, then Apple after a long time will upgrade the camera’s MP from 8 to 12. It is also to be believed that Apple tried to implement this on their previous iPhone versions (6 / 6 Plus) but stopped it since it didn’t meet some standards. If you are not aware about this, Huawei P8 smartphone is the first in the world to feature a 13-megapixel four-color RGBW sensor, yes, made by Sony. I happen to come across some pictures taken by Huawei P8 and they were remarkably great.

Apple iPhone’s camera quality, irregardless of their 8MP, is something that matches with all the top-end smartphones out there. People even compared that with decent DSLR image quality. So hopefully this camera upgrade will certainly boost the expectation of Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
