As we all know, we’ll be getting two awesome Google Nexus smartphones this year, hopefully around September or October. This Android smartphone will definitely be a great contender for the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 as well. So far we know iPhone 7 will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, apart from this, we got several rumors but nothing interesting. To be honest, it’s really hard these days to figure out the ‘expected features’ for a smartphone. Earlier 3GB RAM was a big deal and we wait for months to grab a smartphone having that. But right now, we are talking about 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM smartphones.
So what really should we expect from a smartphone? A better battery perhaps? Maybe a processor which doesn’t heat much? Or maybe a camera which works like DSLR? We can expect all these things from a smartphone, but not right now. We have our limits, brands can implement these features but they don’t want to keep a price tag so high that you can rather invest that money for a car.
Expected Features Of Google Nexus 2016
So far we know there will two new Nexus smartphones, code-named as “Marlin” and “Sailfish”. This will be just like Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. HTC partnered with Google for launching these two devices this year. Earlier it was LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei 6P, but this time, it will be HTC to take control of both the devices. I’m kinda excited for this, because HTC managed to impress us (or me?) with Nexus 9 tablet design.

Expected Features Of Google Nexus aka HTC Sailfish
Operating System (OS) | Android N |
Display | 5-inch Full HD (1080p) |
Memory | Internal: 32 GB |
Processor | 64-bit 2.0GHz quad-core processor |
Camera | Front: 8MP
Rear: 12MP |
RAM | 4GB |
Battery | 2770mAh |
Looking at the features, I’m pretty sure this will be a good competition for OnePlus 3. I’m more concerned about the battery life and I’ll update this table as soon as I get some information. Apart from this, we might get an upgraded RAM, but again, I dunno how effective it’ll be.
Expected Features Of Google Nexus aka HTC Marlin
Operating System (OS) | Android N |
Display | 5.5-inch Full QHD |
Memory | Internal: 32 GB | 64GB |
Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor |
RAM | 4GB or 6GB |
Unfortunately we don’t have much information about HTC Marlin M1 device, but since it’ll be their flagship device like Nexus 6P, we can expect upgraded features in terms of Battery, RAM and Performance for sure. If the rumors are true, then this badass Nexus device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. This will be a great USP for this model and since HTC is developing this device, we can expect ‘more or less’ similar developments from their current leading smartphone – HTC 10.
